Outdoor Wedding Event Birthday Party Crochet Lace Canopy

An example of how my canopies can be used for weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers and any other occasion. They also make great alternatives to table umbrellas. I expect to see a little fairy fly around when I look at this photo! So lovely!

If you'd like one for your own special occasion, contact me or check out my ETSY STORE .

Free Crochet Pattern Frozen Anna Cape Costume

My sweet niece loves Anna and when I found out she was going to see Disney on Ice featuring Frozen, I wanted to make her something to wear to the show and then to have for playing dress-up later on.

Horizontal Buttonhole Tutorial When Using Tunisian Crochet

I have been working on a Tunisian crochet project that requires a buttonhole. I tried looking for a tutorial on it but the ones I found seemed either too complicated or did not give the look I wanted. So after playing around a little, I came up with a simpler way that gives a finished look.

In case anyone else is looking for something similar, here you go.

Triple Twist Headband Ear Warmer Tunisian Knit Crochet Free Pattern

The first cool temperatures hit here last week and we all ran to dig out our winter gear. Of course my children have outgrown everything from last year so, here we go to re-stock.

The Windy City has nothing on our town and we always need something to keep the cold air away from our ears. Time for a warm headband!

Sunflower Crocodile Stitch Doily Crochet

I was looking for a sunflower doily crochet pattern but couldn't find one that made me think "this is it." I saw several photos, but nothing that was exact. This was my first go. I would like to make a few changes to the outlying petals but I was pleased with the final result.

Lace Boot Cuffs Crochet Pattern

Every year, my daughter and I go to a huge craft show called "An Affair of the Heart". We look forward to it every year and we try to make something "new" to wear. About 5 years ago, I had an idea to make some boot decorations.

Cabbage Patch Doll Hair Hat Wig Free Crochet Pattern for American Girl 18 inch Dolls

It seems these little wigs are all the rage these days! They are everywhere! The only thing I haven't seen is one in an 18" doll size. Since I don't have a baby girl but I do have an older girl who just happens to love American Girl Dolls, I had to come up with one for her.

No Bake, All Natural, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Corn Syrup Free, Goldilocks "Just Right" Energy Protein Bars

I've tried many "healthy" granola bar recipes - some were not so healthy, some were not so tasty! Some were dry, some had a not-so-appetizing texture...

There is just enough liquid to make these moist and chewy, there is enough texture that they hold their shape, they aren't too sweet, there is a crunch, no artificial ingredients or preservatives -

I hate to sound like Goldilocks, but these are JUST RIGHT!

"Just Right" Bars

Ingredients:
2 cups toasted, rolled oats
1 16 oz jar Natural, unsweetened Chunky Peanut Butter
(or 1 1/2 cups - any nut butter will do)
1 cup ground flaxseed (measured after grinding)
1/2 cup chia seed
3/4 cup filled halfway with raw honey and raw maple syrup
3/4 dried fruit (I used cranberries and white raisins)
1/2 cup chocolate or carob chips
1/4 cup coarsely chopped almonds (or other nut)
1/2 to 1 tsp. cinnamon (to taste)

Stir all ingredients together, press firmly and evenly into a glass 9x13 dish. Cover and refrigerate at least an hour, overnight is best.

Cut into bars (I got 18) and wrap individually or store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Enjoy!

Tea Room Victorian Filet and Lace Baby Blanket

I had so much fun designing and crocheting this filet and lace baby blanket pattern for a friend who likes tea rooms as much as I do. It took quite a bit longer than I had hoped but I wanted it to be perfect.  I will get better photos before I send it off but couldn't wait to get at least something posted!

The center section is strictly filet crochet with a Sunbonnet Sue figure and the baby's first and middle names. It was a bit of a challenge to create the chart since I could not find a suitable photo - I had to create one! Lots of erasing and coloring in squares.

I searched and searched through books and the internet to find an edging that I thought was just right but couldn't find anything that matched what I had "pictured".  So, after MUCH trial and error, I came up with the edging shown. I am very pleased with it and hope to get the pattern written out and charted.

Now comes the really difficult part - parting with it! I hope my friend likes it. I know it's probably not a "practical" blanket, but perfect for visiting the tea room.

Monday Heirloom Mystery CAL Crochet Square

You have my heart.
I have missed a couple of Mondays
because my mother had some heart issues,
so I thought this pattern was appropriate for my return to Mystery Mondays.

I thought it was very sweet and a
great compliment to the
other squares.

Monday Heirloom Mystery CAL Crochet Square

Victorian Dream is the name of the newest square in my Mystery Square CAL.

If I could do it over, I'd try to make the inside corners white or a different color to make them
pop, or stand out a little more.

Monday Heirloom Mystery CAL Crochet Square

It's Mystery Monday and time for another square.  This one just looked "Victorian" to me and even though it is simple, I thought it was lovely and lacy and girly.

Crochet Square #1 Pattern Heirloom Mystery CAL

I've had an idea I've had going round in my head for about a year but I have never had the chance to sit down and physically work on it. This week I "took" the time!  I've been wanting to make a lacy heirloom.  Something to be cherished for a lifetime. I couldn't decide between white and antique white so I used both!

I love it. It is lacy with a bit of whimsy - it met both my requirements!

What do you think?

Fall is just around the corner - my favorite time of year! It always brings thoughts of cooler weather, which means scarves and sweaters! I love the new Fall Fashion Trend of Slinky Beaded Scarves I've seen in Vogue  and on websites like Anthropologie and Free People, and wanted to make my own version.  I finally have the new pattern up and ready to go. I'm ready for Fall! Are you?

Have a look at just a FEW of the things you can do with this pattern and tell me what you think.

You can create so many different looks and wear it so many different ways! It's very versatile.  It would make a quick and easy gift for every one on your list!

The pattern is available for immediate download as a PDF file at my Ravelry store Lace N Whimsy Ravelry Store or at my Etsy store Lace N Whimsy Etsy Store .

If you would prefer a different format than PDF, just ask! I can send it in another format.

Leaf Tawashi Crochet Pattern

Tawashi is the Japanese word for a scrubber. Here is a unique scrubber crochet pattern for your enjoyment! Made out of cotton, it is a good facial scrubber, made out of nylon netting or acrylic, it is a good dish scrubber. I think they are fun to make and fun to use!

You may sell the items you make but please respect the copyright on the pattern and do not sell or distribute it in any way. Thanks and enjoy!

Minnie Mouse Preemie Photo Prop

I had a request to make a Minnie Mouse outfit for a preemie baby to wear in her first photo shoot. I didn't have a pattern, just a photo so I hope it pleases the mom and fits the teeny baby! I can't wait to see the photos of her in it.
