Tea Room Victorian Filet and Lace Baby Blanket

I had so much fun designing and crocheting this filet and lace baby blanket pattern for a friend who likes tea rooms as much as I do. It took quite a bit longer than I had hoped but I wanted it to be perfect.  I will get better photos before I send it off but couldn't wait to get at least something posted! 

The center section is strictly filet crochet with a Sunbonnet Sue figure and the baby's first and middle names. It was a bit of a challenge to create the chart since I could not find a suitable photo - I had to create one! Lots of erasing and coloring in squares.

I searched and searched through books and the internet to find an edging that I thought was just right but couldn't find anything that matched what I had "pictured".  So, after MUCH trial and error, I came up with the edging shown. I am very pleased with it and hope to get the pattern written out and charted. 

Now comes the really difficult part - parting with it! I hope my friend likes it. I know it's probably not a "practical" blanket, but perfect for visiting the tea room.

because my mother had some heart issues, 

so I thought this pattern was appropriate for my return to Mystery Mondays.

I thought it was very sweet and a

Victorian Dream is the name of the newest square in my Mystery Square CAL. 

If I could do it over, I'd try to make the inside corners white or a different color to make them

pop, or stand out a little more.

I've had an idea I've had going round in my head for about a year but I have never had the chance to sit down and physically work on it. This week I "took" the time!  I've been wanting to make a lacy heirloom.  Something to be cherished for a lifetime. I couldn't decide between white and antique white so I used both!

I love it. It is lacy with a bit of whimsy - it met both my requirements!

Slinky Infinity Beaded Scarf Crochet Pattern

Fall is just around the corner - my favorite time of year! Leaf Tawashi Crochet Pattern

Tawashi is the Japanese word for a scrubber. Here is a unique scrubber crochet pattern for your enjoyment! Made out of cotton, it is a good facial scrubber, made out of nylon netting or acrylic, it is a good dish scrubber. I think they are fun to make and fun to use!

Minnie Mouse Preemie Photo Prop

I had a request to make a Minnie Mouse outfit for a preemie baby to wear in her first photo shoot. I didn't have a pattern, just a photo so I hope it pleases the mom and fits the teeny baby! I can't wait to see the photos of her in it.

I designed this pattern a few years ago to adorn a hat for Gracie. My pink Peonies were blooming in the garden and I wanted to recreate them somehow for decoration. It is a bit abstract so I suppose this is my "interpretation" of a Peony - in crochet!

Face/Bath puff Tawashi, Hat Adornment, Brooch

Yarn used: Worsted Weight Cotton, small amounts of 2 different colors
Hook: G


Experiment with different weights of yarn and hooks to get the look you want! I have used small thread all the way up to bulky yarn. Cotton yarn makes a nice face/bath puff or dish scrubber! Attach to hats or scarves, glue on a pin back for use as a brooch, add a chain loop for hanging and use for a dish scrubber or face/bath puff.


Beginning:
Chain 5, join to form a ring.
Work 10 sc into the ring, join with sl st to first sc.
*Chain 5, skip first sc, sc in next sc*, repeat around. (5 Ch-5 spaces)


Large Outer Petals:
Row 1 - Slip stitch into 1st ch-5 sp, work 9 TR in ch-5 sp, ch 4, turn.


Row 2 - Work 1 tr in each tr across, ch 1, turn.


Row 3 - Sc in same st, sk 2 st, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 st, 3 dc in next, skip 2 st, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, slip st in top of last TR on Row 1 below, ch 4, sl st ihn NEXT ch-5 space of beginning.


Repeat rows 1 thru 3 for large petal 4 more times. (5 petals total).
Ch 1, CHANGE COLORS.


Small Inner Petals:


Now work in remaining UNworked sc’s of the beginning ring.


Row 1 - Slip st into next unworked sc, *ch 5, sl st in same sc, ch 5, sl st in NEXT unworked sc.* Repeat * around, slip st to 1st sl st. (10 ch-5 spaces)


Row 2 - Ch 4, *work 9 TR into ch-5 sp. Ch 4, sl st into next ch-5 sp. Repeat * around, sl st to first sc. Fasten off. (10 small petals)

My latest venture - filling an order for a customer for bouquets of cookie pops. These were fun to make and satisfied my creative urge for the day! I had a lot of ideas to make them more elaborate and unusual but the budget held me down to this. I think that is the most frustrating thing about creativity for me - not having the budget to do what my imagination would like.
