<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">My sweet niece loves Anna and when I found out she was going to see Disney on Ice featuring Frozen, I wanted to make her something to wear to the show and then to have for playing dress-up later on. </span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I knew she needed a cape and set out to create one in crochet. As a bonus, I used things only from my "stash". (We won't talk about how big or small my "stash" might be.) </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The cape is my creation in crochet and used only 1 skein or less of each color. It will best fit toddlers to 3 or 4 year olds depending on the child. You can certainly make it larger by adding to the starting row and you can make it any length you want.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I found the hat pattern on Ravelry from Adorkablecrochet. It was the perfect look so I made it using her adorable pattern found <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-purple-bonnet---anna-hat" target="_blank">HERE</a>. </span></div>

<u style="font-weight: bold;">To make 2nd layer of cape: </u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
There are 2 choices here - if you want to make your cape extra warm, you will want to start the second layer at the top. Turn the cape with the inside facing you and attach the Mixed Berry to the unworked top row of the FSC. You will need more yarn than the pattern calls for if you choose this option.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started the 2nd layer at the base of the trim shown below.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1) Turn Cape upside downand with the back facing you, attach Mixed Berry to the unworked loop of row 12. Attach with a sl st directly below the same color of top cape layer as shown above. Ch 1, Dc in same st and each loop across to the loop even with main color at the opposite corner. (104 Dc)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2) - 3) Ch 1, turn. Dc in each Dc.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Continue repeating rows 2 - 4 until you reach the desired length. I ran out of yarn at the end of row 15. Fasten off.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With the front of the cape facing you, attach Grape yarn in the first stitch just underneath the bobble trim. (Leave a long tail at the beginning.) You will be working down the side of the cape.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
17) Ch 1, turn. Hdc down to the corner. (Hdc-ch1-Dc) in corner. Dc across the bottom. (Dc-ch1-Hdc) in corner. Hdc up the side. Ch 1, turn.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Use the long tails on each side to sew the loose edges of the second layer of trim to the underside of the first layer as shown. This helps the cape lay flatter. Sew in all loose ends.</div>

I used the gold size 10 thread and the 2.35 mm hook to create the button and closure shown in my photos. </div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I have been working on a Tunisian crochet project that requires a buttonhole. I tried looking for a tutorial on it but the ones I found seemed either too complicated or did not give the look I wanted. So after playing around a little, I came up with a simpler way that gives a finished look.</span></div>

</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCrx6YjKR5CQX1bCF5TQ7kqZUnZjX-9FqnCWT01_vyhRJ3TdtS5pIURRh8UzGOYW8cCmrEMXDJZlQObnNAlUc_-6bKP20nhcG-gb30Mpfl32fjt6AkYQ575rkrAXAr7ldFa0h7jzPig03b/s1600/Triple+Twist+Headband+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCrx6YjKR5CQX1bCF5TQ7kqZUnZjX-9FqnCWT01_vyhRJ3TdtS5pIURRh8UzGOYW8cCmrEMXDJZlQObnNAlUc_-6bKP20nhcG-gb30Mpfl32fjt6AkYQ575rkrAXAr7ldFa0h7jzPig03b/s1600/Triple+Twist+Headband+Collage.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The first cool temperatures hit here last week and we all ran to dig out our winter gear. Of course my children have outgrown everything from last year so, here we go to re-stock. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The Windy City has nothing on our town and we always need something to keep the cold air away from our ears. Time for a warm headband!</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">My daughter has also outgrown her (mom's) desire for all things frilly and wanted something a little more sleek and sporty. I wanted something with a tighter weave than crochet so it would be warm, but something that worked up more quickly than knitting.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">So I made a compromise and tried my hand at Tunisian crochet knit stitch! (I tried saying that 5 times fast and it wasn't pretty.)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">We tried one with a knot, but it looked too much like I Love Lucy. I wouldn't mind, but my daughter wasn't impressed. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Then we tried a turban twist but it still wasn't just what she wanted. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">And that's how the Triple Twist Headband was born. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">She was pleased and therefore, I was pleased. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Doesn't it frame her precious heart shaped face just perfectly? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I will make a disclaimer here and say that I will not be giving a tutorial on the Tunisian Knit Stitch because I did a Google search and came up with 72,000 results. I think 72,001 would just be redundant. So please check out one of those awesome tutorials for the how-to get started.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"> </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">And now for the pattern details:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">**Worsted weight yarn (Ivory Tweed I Love This Yarn)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">**K Tunisian hook. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">**Large eye Embroidery Needle</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">**Scissors</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Gauge: 8 rows of Knit Stitch = 2 inches</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Size stitch/row counts as follows: Small (Medium)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Small = approx. 17 to 21 inches</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Medium = approx. 19 to 23 inches</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you want to make a smaller or larger headband, add or subtract equal amounts of rows to the beginning and ending rather than the in the strips. Tunisian Knit Stitch makes a very thick but very stretchy fabric. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Ch 13, In Tunisian style, pick up a loop in 2nd chain from hook and across. (13 loops on hook). Make the Tunisian pass back across.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br clear="none" /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Work 18 (22) rows, Tunisian KNIT stitch. Stop, but do not fasten off. </div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br clear="none" /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Now we will divide this section into two equal strips to form the twists. </div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br clear="none" /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Continue to work in Tunisian Knit stitch - BUT - Only pick up 6 loops (7 loops on hook) and work only in those stitches for 37 (37) rows. </div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br clear="none" /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Fasten off leaving long tail.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
You now have half of the back base and one strip.</div>
<br />

<b>TIP: </b> To join the strips back into one and keep the correct number of stitches -- Go through the "end" of the first strip AND through the beginning of the 2nd strip before picking up a loop. So - put the hook through the end of the first strip (do not pick up a loop), continue through the first part of the seconnd strip and NOW pick up ONE loop. It's similar to making a decrease stitch. </div>

<span style="line-height: 22.8571357727051px;">the headband. Everyone seems to have their favorite preference for making a seam. I like to turn it wrong side out and seam up from the back. It seems (ha ha - "seams"/"seems" - ok, it's probably a little too late for fiber puns) to make the seam less noticeable from the front. </span></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">

<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Now before you try it on, you will want to use the long tails still attached to make single "tack" stitches to hold the twists in place. Trust me! You will want to do this.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'Droid Sans', sans-serif; line-height: 1.428571em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;">I was looking for a sunflower doily crochet pattern but couldn't find one that made me think "this is it." I saw several photos, but nothing that was exact. This was my first go. I would like to make a few changes to the outlying petals but I was pleased with the final result.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Every year, my daughter and I go to a huge craft show called "An Affair of the Heart". We look forward to it every year and we try to make something "new" to wear. About 5 years ago, I had an idea to make some boot decorations. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I called what I made, boot cuffs because I couldn't think of anything else to call them and there was nothing like them already named. We wore them on the outside of our boots, down around the ankle. We got lots of compliments, but I wasn't quite sold on the look. I never did anything with the pattern, life happened, and I forgot all about them.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Fast forward to this winter. Boot socks and boot cuffs are all the rage! They are being worn in a different place, but the shape is still the same. I dug mine out and put them on and I am so happy to find their perfect use. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">These are made from a linen yarn, that is, of course, now discontinued. So I'm on the hunt for a comparable replacement.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I've made some in other colors and I've made some in children's sizes. If you would like to order some, contact me here or through my Etsy store - <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/LaceNWhimsy" target="_blank">LaceNWhimsy</a> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Also, look for a pattern soon!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">It seems these little wigs are all the rage these days! They are everywhere! The only thing I haven't seen is one in an 18" doll size. Since I don't have a baby girl but I do have an older girl who just happens to love American Girl Dolls, I had to come up with one for her. </span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I looked at hundreds of photos and even ran across this wonderful free pattern and tutorial at <a href="http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2013/09/crochet-cabbage-patch-doll-inspired-hat.html">RepeatCrafterMe's website</a> I did not copy her pattern, but it was helpful to me in thinking about the construction and there is a tutorial on the loop stitch. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Cabbage Patch dolls have lots of different hairstyles and it would be easy to change the styles using the basic design - a ponytail instead of pigtails, all over curls vs. bangs, straight vs. curly bangs ...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Cut 46 pieces of yarn measuring 12 inches each (23 pieces of yarn for each pigtail). <div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">To attach the pigtails, I fold the hat flat with the bangs evenly in the front. Decide where you want to place them, and use the 2 stitch markers to mark each side where you want the pigtails to go. This is the easiest way I've found to keep them even. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I use the tapestry needle and the two strings at the top of the braid to attach them to the hat. Thread the strands - one on each side of the stitch marker - through to the inside of the hat. Tie the strands together in a knot and then weave the ends through the stitches. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Tie a ribbon to each pigtail and enjoy! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I had so much fun designing and crocheting this filet and lace baby blanket pattern for a friend who likes tea rooms as much as I do. It took quite a bit longer than I had hoped but I wanted it to be perfect. I will get better photos before I send it off but couldn't wait to get at least something posted! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The center section is strictly filet crochet with a Sunbonnet Sue figure and the baby's first and middle names. It was a bit of a challenge to create the chart since I could not find a suitable photo - I had to create one! Lots of erasing and coloring in squares.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I searched and searched through books and the internet to find an edging that I thought was just right but couldn't find anything that matched what I had "pictured". So, after MUCH trial and error, I came up with the edging shown. I am very pleased with it and hope to get the pattern written out and charted. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Now comes the really difficult part - parting with it! I hope my friend likes it. I know it's probably not a "practical" blanket, but perfect for visiting the tea room.</span><br />

This week I "took" the time! I've been wanting to make a</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;"> lacy heirloom. Something to be cherished for a lifetime. I couldn't decide between white and antique white so I used both!</span><br />

It always brings thoughts of cooler weather, which means scarves and sweaters! I finally have the new pattern up and ready to go. I'm ready for Fall! Are you?</span><br />

I ran across this wonderful crochet tutorial and wanted to share (click on the link below). You can go at your own pace - there are videos you can pause, rewind, watch again - as many times as you need in order to master the craft. She even explains the hooks and different types of yarn. I would have LOVED to find this type of tutorial when I first learned to crochet, but the internet wasn't even around then! ;o) Enjoy! </span><br />
